River's Dropping

.
The Oconee River looked like this at 11:30 a.m., swift current and muddy brown at the GA 46 bridge. The Mount Vernon station reported that the river was receding at 3.6 feet above flood stage. The log next to the footbridge is wet near the bottom, suggesting that thewater had been slightly higher. The blooming lilies are a beautiful reminder of the wonderful park that once existed until series of vandals destroyed it.

We're still tinkering with our site. Google is the foremost search engine, so we've added a Google search gadget at the top left to make it handy for your googling.

What are your favorite local internet sites? We'd like to know.
