The Washer Man Of Rex, Georgia

.

.
This week an unusual penny showed up at the Soperton Piglet.
.

.
On the "tails" side was some lettering about the Washer Man of Rex, Georgia. We wondered what kind of washer man he was. Window washing? Car washing? Sold washers and screws? We Googled his address and gave him a call.
.
He's a repairman. Fixes anything: clothes washers, dish washers, appliances, plumbing. His name is Wayne Fielder, and his address is 6601 Fielder Rd, Rex, GA 30273. That's in that triangle between I-75 and I-675 (Atlanta, of course.)
Fielder has been labeling pennies for about 20 years, and he enjoys the feedback.
.
He puts stickers on all the cash that goes through his hands. Once he suffered a burglary, and all the money that was stolen was marked with his labels. Easy case for the police.
When he isn't occupied with making repairs and tagging his money, he runs a Watkins route.
His "mini-signs" are printed by Signs by Tomorrow in Buckhead.
.
Grade us, comment, and forward this to your e-mail friends.

Thank you for this post - over a year and a half after you wrote it, I found one of these pennies, and your site was the only one with an answer as to what it was.
