Royce Fowler is one of today's hard-working enterprising men, who buys property and fixes up to rent or sell. In the photo of this the first block of East Main Street, he owns (from the right) the old gas station which is the first one in Soperton built by Seoco (Southeastern Oil Company - the Petersons), the office used by Leroy Gillis, Justice of the Peace, the two buildings of Sammons Funeral Home, and the T. W. Cullens Motor Company. Mr. Cullens was a former Mayor, and his son Henry Ford Cullens carried on the business, and his grandson Tommy Cullens lives in Soperton and is known for coaching midget league sports for a number of years.

People older than 50 will remember the first Georgia Power office, next to the Ford place, when children received balloons paddle-ball sets and hot plate pads for the ladies. Reddy Kilowatt was the cartoon logo. The new Georgia Power office is at the corner of the block. The company sold appliances into the 1970's. In the 1950's there was a big billboard at the corner, often with Coca-Cola advertising.
.
The interior photos of the Ford place were made as Royce and other workers cleaned and made repairs. There's a nice view through the wide front door of the Veterans Monument.
